The fortunes of the Notenstein merchants’ guild, the “Nothveststein” meeting house in the heart of St. Gallen and the financial house of Zyli, later Wegelin, have been closely entwined through history.
The greyhound in the logo of Notenstein Private Bank Ltd stems from the coat of arms of the Wegelin family. The historic “zum Nothveststein” guildhall with its greyhound crest has been a recognisable feature of St. Gallen’s cityscape for centuries.
A history of the rich traditions of the “Nothveststein” guildhall and the Notenstein guild is soon to be published.
